Abstract

This study aims to analyze the contribution of the increase in Indonesia’s coffee exports during the 2021-2024 period in supporting the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Using a descriptive qualitative approach, the study draws on secondary data from the Central Statistics Agency (BPS), government ministry reports, academic literature, and international publications related to coffee exports and their broader impacts. The findings reveal that the rise in coffee exports has significantly contributed to national economic growth, increased farmers' income, job creation, and strengthened local economies. Furthermore, the coffee export sector has created greater opportunities for women’s participation in agriculture, particularly in the processing and production stages, supporting the achievement of SDG 5 on gender equality. Moreover, the growth in coffee exports plays a role in reducing economic inequality (SDG 10) by improving market access for smallholder farmers and driving infrastructure investment in rural coffee-producing areas. In the context of responsible consumption and production (SDG 12), growing global demand has encouraged the transition toward more sustainable farming practices, including organic agriculture and circular economy initiatives such as reusing coffee waste. These findings highlight that coffee exports serve not only as an economic driver but also as a vehicle for inclusive and environmentally sustainable development.
