Abstract

This research examines the relationship between Corruption Perception Index (CPI), Foreign Direct Investment (FDI), and economic growth in Indonesia during 2004-2024. The study aims to analyze both short-term and long-term effects of corruption perception and foreign investment on Indonesia's economic development through Islamic economic perspective. Using Vector Error Correction Model (VECM) methodology, the research found that in the short term, CPI significantly influences economic growth while FDI does not show significant effect. Long-term analysis confirms CPI maintains its significant influence in correcting economic system imbalances, while FDI continues to show no meaningful impact. Granger causality tests reveal a one-way relationship where economic growth influences both CPI and FDI, not vice versa. Variance Decomposition analysis indicates that in the long term, economic growth variations are primarily explained by itself (74.47%), followed by FDI (19.94%) and CPI (5.59%). this research finds that fighting corruption should remain a priority for sustainable economic development, while highlighting that economic growth should incorporate both quantitative improvements and qualitative aspects like distributive justice and collective welfare in accordance with Islamic economic principles.
